Functional Capacity Evaluation

A functional capacity evaluation is a set of tests evaluating the function of a person’s musculoskeletal strength, endurance, fine motor agility and flexibility in relation to an occupational task. An FCE can identify changes that need to be provided in an effort to accommodate an employee with a medical limitation or disability following an injury.

FCEs determine if an employee can resume the previous work load the employee was performing prior to injury and provide information on limitations that exist in hopes to assist in transition from injury to employment and disability to deployment.
